Bruce Gelfand is a master coach and teacher. He has lectured at the University of Southern California and at the University of New Mexico, and has lead workshops around the world. An award-winning playwright and poet, as well as novelist and screenwriter, his work has been seen on American Playhouse and in numerous markets around the world.

His most recent screenplays include Rainbow Man; an adaptation of Peggy Pond Church's, The House at Otowi Bridge; the thriller, Something True for Golden Boy Productions; and an adaptation of Jane Straus' novel, Touched. Bruce is also the writer/director of the feature-length documentary, The Family Safe, now in post-production. His book, Brighter the Light, Deeper the Shadow, a collection of fiction and poetry from his writing workshops was published in 2003.

Bruce is also a songwriter, comedy writer and actor.

March, 2009...Bruce creates Small Prayers for Hard Times, an entreprenurial collaboration with Gerry Walenka in Chicago. February, 2009...Bruce conducts workshops on "Creativity" at the Puerto Vallarta Writers Conference in Mexico. The conference is an extraordinary success...Longtime client, Jane Heller's book, Confessions of a She-Fan: The Course of True Love with the New York Yankees (Rodale Books) is published to rave reviews. (Book is dedicated to Bruce.)

January, 2009...Bruce completes the new screenplay, Rainbow Man.

November, 2008...Bruce leads a week-long writing retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica.

June, 2008...Bruce leads a weekend retreat in Santa Monica, CA.

February, 2008...Bruce leads a weekend retreat in Cambria, CA

January, 2008...Bruce partners with producer Jamie Blakeley to create writing workshops.

April, 2007...Bruce partners with Benjamin Schick of Media One in SF, award-winning LA producers Howard Burkons and Brenda Friend, and the San Francisco Giants to create The Gatekeepers, a reality television show.

June, 2006... Bruce reads and leads a writing workshop in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in El Cerrito, California.

April, 2006... Bruce spends 90 minutes on the Mendocino NPR affiliate, KZYX-90.7 - reading his work, being interviewed, and conducting a ‘mini-writing workshop’.

March, 2006... Bruce signs a deal to write the film adaptation of Jane Straus’ San Francisco novel, Touched.

March, 2006... The film-version of Bruce’s screenplay, Something True, directed by Thor Gold for Goldenboy Productions, is finished. A cast/crew screening in Los Angeles is scheduled for later this spring.

February, 2006... Bruce completes the erotic thriller, The Perfect Game, also for Goldenboy Productions.

November, 2005... Bruce’s screenplay, The House at Otowi Bridge is optioned to Marble Light Entertainment.

Workshops

This workshop offers a full day where all your writerly needs can be met. Think of it as a kind of spa-day for your creative voice. Using both carefully designed group exercises and extensive private coaching, you’ll be astonished at how much work you’ll get done. And at how much fun you’ll have doing it.

Retreats

Come spend a weekend with us in a beautiful, serene location where you will spend Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning rigorously working on your writing. There will be group exercises, extensive private coaching with Bruce, readings with the group, and significant chunks of time alone -- writing.
